A BIT ABOUT THERAPY
The latest research on productive therapy suggests that it’s the collaborative and deeply caring relationship between the therapist and client that is at the heart of successful therapy.

So how do you choose the right therapist for YOU?

Ask yourself what is important to you. This is a very unique relationship in which you must feel safe, understood, respected, and not judged. Ask if this is a person who you believe has the wisdom and insight to help you navigate through your current challenges, is this someone who will help you to look for those patterns that proliferate stuckness, or repetitive behaviors, and will help you to seek out solutions that generate shifts in thoughts and behaviors? Can this person help you achieve your goals, gain new insights, and make improved choices that will allow for the positive changes that you seek?

When I am asked how to find a good therapist, I simply say, look for someone you initially like. Schedule at least two, preferably three sessions before deciding if the therapeutic fit is a good one for you, and your needs.

Working with a trained, experienced, and empathetic professional is the best way to begin a therapeutic relationship.

WELCOME

Welcome and thank you for visiting my website. If you are here you may be considering therapy for yourself, a member of your family, or a friend. You may be wondering what the psychotherapy process entails, and how it might help in ones life.

I invite you to explore my therapy philosophy, and learn about the range of services that I offer in my practice.

It is my belief that most people generally consider therapy when something in their life does not seem quite right. I understand that at times the problem is easy to articulate, but often it is more nuanced and confusing. Making healthy changes can be difficult when experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, job stress, serious illness, family conflict, and other life challenges. I work with my clients to bring about an understanding that while we can't change difficult situations that occurred in the past, we can use them to better understand the current challenges we might be facing.
In my practice I work with individuals, children, couples and families. I believe strongly in the resiliency, and potential of individuals at any age to learn, gain new insight, and create change. My theoretical orientation combines a psychodynamic understanding of personality with evidence-based CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) methods. I provide a therapeutic relationship that is practical, collaborative, and focused on achieving tangible, long term results.
I have an academic as well as experiential specialization in issues of aging. I have also received additional post masters training in the areas of working with anxiety, aging and life transitions, memory issues (Alzheimer's/Dementia), chronic illness (Cancer), caregiving and grief processing. I enjoy my work with grade school aged children and have worked therapeutically in a private middle school. I also work with those who support someone suffering from an eating disorder (parents, spouses, friends). I am enthusiastic about my work and continue to obtain education in my specialty areas several times a year.

I currently have an active private practice in Agoura Hills Ca. I am also a therapist on staff at the Cancer Support Community (formally the Wellness Community). At the Cancer Support Community I facilitate a Young Adult Mixed Cancer Group as well as a Brain Cancer Participant and Caregiver Group.

I hold a B. A. from Indiana University with a double major in Psychology and Marketing, and an M. A. from Antioch University Santa Barbara in Clinical Psychology. I am a member of CAMFT and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in good standing. I am licensed to practice in the state of California, # 99768.

As a psychotherapist, my goal is to help you gain a new perspective and provide you with skills to help you move forward in your life. I believe that good therapy does much more than simply alleviate suffering, it allows you to develop your own internal resources and identify what is important in your life.
